Edge is the work of photographic artists Valerie Dalling and Kimberley Cox, both graduates from the University of Derby.
“This ongoing visual arts project is aimed at raising awareness of how changes to our British coastline appear to be accelerating as a result of global warming, and the devastating consequences this is having particularly on coastal communities.
Through our individual artistic vision, we intend to document these changes with photographs taken along the coastline. However in order to be able to fully appreciate the extent of our shifting landscape we need your help. If you wish to become part of this project, please submit your own photographic interpretation of how you see the British coastline changing, by emailing your images as low res jpegs to edgeproject@live.com
Please tell us where and when your images were taken, also stating your contact details (name, email and telephone number required).
In addition if you live by the coast and are directly affected by coastal erosion we would like to hear your stories.
We are also interested in any old photographs you may have which could be useful to this project. Please forward to Edge Project, c/o Banks Mill Studios, 71 Bridge Street, Derby DE1 3LB. Unfortunately photographs cannot be returned.
While you will retain overall copyright of your photographs, by forwarding your jpeg images to us, Edge acknowledges your consent to select and use them, in respect of regularly updating this blog. Your news and views are important so please feel free to contact us.
It is intended that this project will subsequently become part of a proposed exhibition and publication. If your photograph is selected for this purpose we will contact you prior to further use, and for which you and your work will be acknowledged accordingly.
There is no closing date for submissions at this stage but please keep referring to this site for progress.
Thank you for your help.”
